Robert (Bob) Lang was born in North Charleston, South Carolina and grew up in numerous places throughout the state – dad was a Church of God pastor and evangelist. I attended Schools in three different towns before completing the third grade and finally graduated from Gordon H. Garrett High School in North Charleston. I earned an associate degree in business management from ICS in Scranton, Pa, and a certificate in pastoral studies from the Bible Training Institute in Cleveland, Tn. I was a certified counselor and hospital chaplain for nearly 15 years. My pastoral ministry began in 1969 and was privileged to serve eight congregations over the next 30 years.
Married in March, 1964, to Joyce Smith, we have two wonderful children, Myree (Charles) Macko of Goose Creek, SC, and Robb (Ashley) Lang of Rock Hill, SC. We have four delightful grandchildren: Matthew, Connor, Mary-Elex, and Chapman.
The years 1967-68 found me living with my Uncle (Sam). After graduating from the U.S. Army Security Agency Signal Corps at Fort Gordon, Ga., I was stationed on Okinawa, Japan.
In 1998 we relocated to the Rock Hill / Fort Mill area and have been actively involved in the Fort Mill Church of God ever since. I have gladly served on the Church and Pastors Counsel, on the missions board, “spreacher” of the Refuge Connect Class, and as Director of the Senior Adult Ministry, Young at Heart. I also lead the Wednesday morning prayer meetings.
I am so very glad our Father plans our steps and orders our future. He has allowed me the opportunity to serve Him here at the great and wonderful FMCOG!
