When God Says, “Wait”
Series: Wondering About God
Habakkuk means to embrace. To wrestle
Habakkuk 2:1-3 (NIV)
“I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts, and I will look to see what God will say to me and what answer I am to give to this complaint.” “The Lord replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on the tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time. It speaks of an end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it. It will come and not delay.
1. We stop and listen – Verse 1
2. Write down what God shows you – Verse 2
When God says something to you, write it down. Your spiritual enemy is an expert at stealing the seeds of truth that God wants to plant.
3. You commit to waiting if necessary. – Verse 3
God’s delays are not God’s denials.
God isn’t as much into time as He is timing. Sometimes we must be willing to wait while He works.
Examples: Moses, Joseph, Paul
Habakkuk 2:3 (TLB)
These things I plan, they won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient. They will not be overdue by a single day.
Habakkuk 2:4 The just shall live by faith.
Habakkuk 2:20 The Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before Him.
