PREPARING YOUR FAST
STEP 1: Set Your Objective
Think about why are you fasting? Is it for for the family, for financial, for guidance problems, for special grace to handle a difficult situation?
Through fasting and prayer we humble ourselves before God so the Holy Spirit will stir our souls, awaken our churches, and heal our land according to 2 Chronicles 7:14. Make this a priority in your fasting.
STEP 2: Make Your Commitment
Pray about the kind of fast you should undertake.
- How much time each day you will devote to prayer and God’s Word.
STEP 3: Prepare Yourself Spiritually
Begin your time of fasting and prayer with an expectant heart. Let the Holy Spirit lead you.
STEP 4: Expect Results
If you sincerely humble yourself before the Lord, repent, pray, and seek God’s face; if you consistently meditate on His Word, you will experience a heightened awareness of His presence (John 14:21).
CONSIDER THESE WHEN PRAYING
STEP 1: Prioritze Prayer
Attend prayer services during the fast
or at least designate a ti me to pray daily.
STEP 2: Pray the Scripture
Write down verses and say them out
loud.
STEP 3: Combine music with Prayer
Music helps block out the noise of daily life.
STEP 4: Kneel and walk around
The posture of your heart is most important.
STEP 5: Pray for specific needs
The more specific we pray, the more specific God answers.
STEP 6: Pray in the Spirit
Your prayer language is understood by God and not the enemy.
STEP 7: Journal
Write down what God is whispering to your Spirit.
