MISSION

Loving God and people without limits.

VISION

Our vision is to create a community where everyone experiences hope, healing, and freedom in Jesus Christ through a loving, Spirit-filled church of imperfect people. We do this by fostering spiritual growth and serving people with authenticity and excellence.

The Five Pillars Guiding Our Vision:
We love people.
We serve people.
We strive for excellence.
We keep growing.
We work as a team.

OUR CHURCH

Who We Are

We are a community devoted to following the example set in Acts 2:42 (ESV): “And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

People of Hope

We exist to lead people toward a growing relationship with Jesus, both locally and globally, embodying freedom, restoration, and healing.

People of Truth

We are committed to cultivating a community with a deep understanding, love, and practice of the Scriptures, anchoring our faith and actions in God's Word.

People of Community

Our church family reflects the diversity of our growing region, embracing people of all ages, races, classes, and backgrounds. We prioritize connection over isolation, fostering ongoing discipleship.

People of Prayer

As a church rooted in a legacy of prayer, we honor the past while envisioning our future as a house of prayer, dedicated to teaching, modeling, and nurturing a culture of prayer.

Our History

Every Sunday afternoon in the Spring of 1931 prayer meetings and a revival by Reverend M. G. Quinton were held in the front yard of Mrs. Fanny Simmons home at 218 Link Street in Fort Mill. The Church of God organization expanded into South Carolina in 1914, and the Quinton revival was the first Church of God meeting ever held in Fort Mill. The last week of August 1931 a store building, formerly the Tom Porter Grocery Store, was rented on South White Street, and Reverend J. H. Daniels began a revival which lasted four weeks. There were 29 saved, 22 sanctified, and 19 filled with the Holy Spirit. As a result of this revival, the Fort Mill Church of God was organized on Sunday, September 27, 1931 with nineteen members. From these humble beginnings, we have grown and reached out to impact our community with a message of hope found in Jesus Christ. We believe God desires for us to live empowered, Holy Spirit filled lives. As a body of believers, we strive to love God and live out that love through service and care for others. We are a diverse community of believers dedicated to bringing God’s Good News of Hope, Grace and Love through the blood of Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Fort Mill Church of God is a member of the Church of God with headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee.

  • We believe in the verbal inspiration of the Bible

  • We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

  • We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.

  • We believe that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded by God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins. That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.

  • We believe in sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost. Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.

  • We believe in baptism with the Holy Spirit subsequent to a clean heart. In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence.

  • We believe in water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

  • We believe divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.

  • We believe in the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saints’ feet.

  • We believe in the premillennial second coming of Jesus, the bodily resurrection, and eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.
